Week 6: Steven Jackson

Prelude and Fugue by Steven Jackson

I wanted to revisit the idea of a Baroque prelude and fugue and add some ideas of my own. In the Prelude the tempo is very flexible and the phrases very disjointed which enhances the sense of anticipation inherent in the form. The Fugue makes use of characteristic colouristic string techniques and includes three subtle samples of pre-recorded material, which along with two hemiolas form the focal points of the structure.
