Edward Nesbit (1986-) graduated from Cambridge University in June 2007 with a first class honours degree in music. While he was studying there a wide variety of his works were performed, from his Symphony in November 2005 to the incidental music for Faust, the Footlights Pantomime, in November-December 2006 and While Rome Burns, an opera which was given two fully-staged performances by Cambridge University Opera Society in June 2007. In December 2006 he won the Cambridge University Musical Society Composition Competition, which led to his winning composition, Music for Orchestra, being performed by Cambridge University’s premier orchestra in March 2008.
Edward is currently working towards a Masters degree in composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he is studying with Julian Anderson. Since arriving in London his works have been performed in venues across the city including the Robin Howard Dance Theatre and Wigmore Hall; his work has also been played in the Spitalfields and City of London Festivals. He gratefully acknowledges financial support for the continuation of his study from the City of London Corporation and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
